Testicular Fortitude?

Now, I'm no hairy legged 70's style feminist (I'm a lipstick feminist who l-o-v-e-s men), but when Paul Gipson, a local North Carolina labor leader, introduced Hillary today at a rally saying that she has the kind of “testicular fortitude" labor needs in order to get NAFTA ammended, he struck an extremely sour note with me (and my girl-friends). His exact quote follows:

“I truly believe that that’s going to take an individual that has testicular fortitude,” he said. “That’s exactly right. That’s what we gotta have.”
I have no problem getting behind N.C. Gov. Mike Easley(D) with his comment yesterday that Hillary's determination makes "Rocky Balboa look like a pansy.” Thats true, and not patronizing. Whether you love her of hate her (I'm leaning more towards hate), you gotta admit that this girl is a fighter. But to say that we as women need to "grow a pair" to get things done is absolutely insulting.

Though she won't get my vote, I have to tip my hat to Hillary for setting Gipson straight with the following:

“I must say, Paul, I appreciate that endorsement. It means a lot to me,” she said. “I do think I have fortitude. Women can have it as well as men.”

Anyone Hear Those Sounds?

Thump, Thump. That first thump was the sound of the good Rev. Wright tossing Obama under the bus yesterday, and the second was the sound of Barry O returning the favor today. I've only got two things to say (for now) on the matter: (1) Wright is scum and (2) Obama was an idiot to wait this long to give that lump of egocentric dead-weight the half-ass heave-ho.

Free-Market Free-Tibet

Hello, this is my first post, hope you enjoy it. Feel free to toss in your 2 cents in in the comments section. Turns out that though the Chinese government is a half-breed Communist/Capitalist beast, at once capable of flooding the world with cheap everything while at the same time crushing the spirit of a peace loving people yearning for freedom (Tibet), its people have fully embraced the ethos of Western Capitalism.

Yesterday I happened to catch a BBC News story on a factory in China's Guangdong (廣東) province on it's southern coast. The enterprising capitalists there were poised to capitalize on the world attention on Tibet. The factory was producing Free Tibet flags for an international order until a worker, who happened to see some TV images of the protests surrounding the Tibetan crackdowns, reported it to authorities.

Seems that though while we have trouble exporting freedom to totalitarian and communist corners of the globe, we have had no problem closing the sale when it comes to capitalism. We in America often make the mistake of thinking that "free-market"capitalism is synonymous with
freedom and democracy. Clearly not. Free Tibet. Much love-PolitiGal.
